trinityvixen: (need a hug)

This episode didn't make me cry. It just reduced me to anxious callings out. I wanted to remind Mr. Bennet at every awful turn--and I did--that I loved him best of all the Mr. Bennets (and that is saying something, given how indisputably awesome Mr. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice is). I just kept saying it aloud: "You're my favorite Mr. Bennet. I love you!" My roommate obviously thinks I'm nuts at this point (as if she ever had any doubts on that score).

If there was any way to make Mr. Bennet even more my wubbie, I can't think of it. They covered all the bases: the cold professional brought into warmth and love, the fall from grace of the once-proud, the sacrifices gladly made for love, the boundaries of friendship (CLAUDE!!!! WAAAAHH!!!!!), love separated and forcibly held apart. It's not possible that I be any more upset about this. It's just not. I want to hug Mr. Bennet until his ribs crack. I even kind of love Claire because she finally figured out what most of fandom's known for a while: that Mr. Bennet might not always be right, but his intentions are. Always. And she's really pissed me off with her spitting in her father's face (the whole "you're not my real father" card is especially heinous given how "loving" her biological father has been--in her experience, I mean---DON'T HURT ME, [livejournal.com profile] linaerys!!!), so that's me being brought around like nuts.

::FLAIL::

-The thing about a really good episode? It makes previous episodes that seemed pointless make more sense and have more purpose. Suddenly, it's not just a waste of my life to have George Takei on this show. Because he is no better than Mr. Bennet. That stupid, pointless bit where Mr. Nakamura tried to get Hiro to go back to Japan and put his nose to the grindstone? That's Bennet trying to mind-wipe Claire and his family so that they wouldn't know she was super. I hope to God Nakamura-san gets his, too.

-Who was Claude protecting? My guess is it wasn't his late protege. If I had to guess, I'd say it was the Haitian. Bennet didn't know the Haitian wasn't mute. I'm guessing Claude worked it out. And this is why he, in turn, is saving Claire at great personal risk to himself. Claire to the Haitian, the Haitian to Claude, Claude to Peter, aaaaaand we're back to that inevitable bomb of the extended Petrelli family reunion. There's the problem of the Haitian not having been hidden, though. I wonder if it's Hiro? Interesting...

-Why the hell would this company or whatever want anything to do with Matt Parkman? I give Matt props here because this, after his brief stint as a body guard, was him at his least useless. But he still is mostly useless. With a little training, he might get slightly more subtle. Maybe. But the whole "ZOMG HE CAN TELL WHAT PEOPLE ARE THINKING" has now been proved to have a threefold weakness: a) he can only read thoughts if people are thinking, b) he can't understand any language he doesn't already know, and c) he cannot project his thoughts (or will) upon others. These are severe limitations. I dunno how they're going to wipe his memory or rewrite his brain to make him more pliable without the Haitian guy around, but maybe that's what the new chick is for.

Not surprisingly, Matt made all the wrong decisions again and yet seems to have gotten away with, well, murder. He needs a mindwipe and an upgrade. He and Ted also need to get their shit together because they both have Memento disease. Matt had his evening ruined when he met the Haitian and Mr. Bennet, but he fucking remembered being able to hear thoughts, so he damn well knew that Mr. Bennet hadn't made him that way. Ted's a little fucked up in the head, so I give him a pass on remembering that, but Matt, really: wise the fuck up!

Damn Heroes being on Mondays. Makes me have to wait for the worst day of the week to get my fix. That was probably one of the best previews they've had so far.

Awesome Thing the First: NATHAN FUCKING PUNCHING JESSICA IN THE FACE
Jesus sweet Christ....YES. Jessica may be a billion times better than Niki, but there's nothing that irritates me about her that couldn't be solved with a punch in the face. Also? That's fucking hilarious. Nathan continues to prove that the greatest threat to his chances of being elected to Congress is himself. Her reaction should be awesome.

Awesome Thing the Second: Mohinder dicking around with Sylar's brain
That's a surprising twist, isn't it? I wonder how teaser-ish this is. Like, this isn't going to be the "Mohinder wakes up to the fact that he's traveling (sleeping) with his father's killer and a psychopath" moment. This is actually going to be him trying to cure Sylar of whatever brain fever he's got this time around. Maybe he'll notice a bit of bruising where that white thing was sticking out of his skull when he was imprisoned by Mr. Bennet. At that rate, he should wise up come the season finale.

Maybe.

Awesome Thing the Third: Simone--not dead!?
Because I don't think it's really Simone. Really, if Simone ended up being a super after the crap she threw in Nathan's face the week before about "people like you," I will really hate that woman (as is, I just find her mostly useless damsel-in-distress/faithful girlfriend material, which is annoying but not hate-worthy). I want it to be a shape-shifter, a notably missing superpower thus far on the show. And, yes, okay, fine, it was kinda fucking hot and kinky that she was all bloodied up and goes, "Want to shoot me again?" DIRTY!

I didn't even miss Sylar. Much. Though the face he was making in the preview was to die for funny. Almost as good as his "Sylar? WHERE OMG!?! HE IS GOING TO EAT MY BRAINS!" to Mohinder last week. Cheee!

Nathan hasn't been any kind of father to Claire, so don't worry about violence from this quarter. To Claire's credit, she only gets pissy about Bennet not being her biological father when he's mindwiping the people she loves, so I have some sympathy for her.

I think Claude was protecting Claire. I think he was the one telling the Haitian not to mindwipe her. I have very little evidence for this except how worried about her he seemed in "7 years ago."

Of all the idiot things Matt's done, I do understand why he wants to think that Bennet caused him to read minds. It started very soon before Bennet took him. Bennet can erase memories. He wouldn't know exactly when it happened, and now he has Ted telling him that Bennet caused this, and he wants to blame someone for his crappy life. He's still a dumbass, but that particularly bit of dumbassery seems a bit more understandable.

Nathan continues to prove that the greatest threat to his chances of being elected to Congress is himself.

Hee! I loved him punching Jessica in the face. Both of those women need it badly, and you're not going to hear me go all "men shouldn't punch women." Not now.

I think that Simone is someone's dream. Promo monkeys are known to be misleading like that.

Claire started out whiny as all get out, so I'm going against a long-standing irritation to find her remotely likeable at this point, and I actually do like her, so I'm getting over it. Still, quit being mean to daddy, woman!

I think Claude was protecting Claire

Makes sense, o'course, especially as Bennet wouldn't have shot him if he'd said as much without the caveat of "maybe." Maybe Bennet shot him because he couldn't actually hear Claire's name or he'd flip the fuck out. Hearing "maybe it's Claire" was enough to get him to shoot the guy. Because it means he has to start worrying about this. Aww, Mr. Bennet! ::hearts mightily::

Matt's life is pretty crappy, so I guess I'll give him that. But it's not like it was sunshine and roses before he could read minds. For a while, reading minds was vastly improving his shithole life. Maybe if they mindwipe him, he'll stop caring about the stupid wife and baby (who probably isn't his anyway, since wife has established she cheated on him and kept the secret such that within a few weeks of telling him, she's showing mightily). I want a competant Matt, damn it!

I think that Simone is someone's dream. Promo monkeys are known to be misleading like that.

Maybe the Indian kid followed Mohinder across the ocean. You know, since Indians apparently have unlimited resources such that teachers can afford three or four trips from Delhi to New York to wherever it is he picked up Sylar and the rental cars and hotels from there.

Then again, Sylar's probably sitting on some victims' money, too.

I did know. I think I blogged about it a few months ago when I missed my first episode of Heroes and caught it online the next day. I was super impressed with the streaming video set up. Aside from not being able to make the window larger like I was able to do on ABC's website, it was better than watching the thing live. Fewer commercials!

Actually it gives you the option of going full screen if you wanted to. Or at least it did when I was catching up last week. Maybe it's a new feature?

Or maybe it was giving me trouble about it so I didn't bother? Just as easily possible.

We keep getting told here that we need to watch it, so we are going to try to see one day if we can watch it on the Wii :D

Do. Heroes isn't a great show, but it is addictive. Soap operatically so. I mean it's got a huge cast of characters, lots of potential for angst and humor, and pretty, pretty people everywhere.

Plus, I heartily endorse it, and we've had some good luck with rec's between us, mm?

My friend Jim keeps telling me to watch Heros, keep meaning too just working soo much that i never get time for well....anything.

Damnit. And here I was looking forward to foregoing the bothersome habit of downloading eps... I have to see this one again. That was some solid television. And I didn't think the final scene could get any more wrenching until the Haitian went in to wipe his braaaain noooo! Mr. Bennet!

Ugh! Congratulations Heroes, you have achieved Good Drama.

And if I wasn't hooked before I'm a sucker now.

I love that we're going to have a whole new dynamic now with Claire and the Haitian on the run together. YAY.

A bit confused myself about the whole Matt deal myself. When I saw him lying on the table again I was all "wait... what?" Hopefully we'll see the sense in that soon enough. I just like that they're moving characters around. Restless shows ftw.

Disadvantage #2 of being caught up: a WHOLE WEEK WTF.

That's no fun at all! I'm suddenly a television whore where I didn't used to be. I had maybe three shows I watched up through college. Nowadays, I get Friday and Saturday nights off and that's it. Crazy!

You could definitely watch it online, though, because the quality is good and the episodes less annoying to watch without the commercials. Also? Commentary!

And I can't remember what it is you liked I didn't. I didn't like Kill Bill? I liked the first one a lot...

I think that might have been it since i am over the top when it comes to kill bill :D

thanks to the Wii the TV is almost never available, been tempted to buy my own but really, its just easier to save my money for the big move to who knows where in September :D

honestly tempted to start watching firefly again
:)
None of my roomates have seen it yet ....

I know, right!?! Seriously, I was like "it's nice they have the eps online, but I've never really needed it 'cause I catch it when it's on." NOW I NEEDS IT. Because not only was that an awesome episode, I need to watch the preview again a few thousand times. I know that when I rewatch it, I'm going to burst into tears knowing how it ends. ::wibble::

Congratulations Heroes, you have achieved Good Drama.

Heh. "Good evening, ladies and gentleman, my name is Tim Kring and I'll be your captain today. We're looking to make good time today, with heavy trade winds helping us to pick up speed somewhere around our eleventh episode. We'll hit a few pockets here and there, but we hope to have you safely cruising at some decent drama about five hours before we sign off. Sit back, relax, and enjoy."

A bit confused myself about the whole Matt deal myself. When I saw him lying on the table again I was all "wait... what?"

There's a very real problem of how do you lie to Matt? Say you brainwash him and make him into Bennet's partner. He'll catch a stray thought (you can't police that shit 24-7 in your own head, let alone bunches of peoples') and the jig will be up. If there's nothing being given away, he'll get suspicious. If he isn't brainwashed (or even if he is), he'll get curious. There's just no way to completely stonewall him forever. Mr. Bennet managed it for an hour. That's it.

Disadvantage #2 of being caught up: a WHOLE WEEK WTF.

WELCOME TO MY HELL. Seriously.

Funny you should mention Firefly: I bought my own set (can you believe I haven't owned it until now?) recently and sat down to watch the pilot last night. Forgot how much I loved that series. To bitty, itty pieces.

I think you're totally right about that - because Bennet didn't shoot Claude in a pre-meditated, badass, cold blooded killer sort of way, he shot him in a panicked, "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP" sort of way.

I agree with you, he so is the best Bennet.

Which is so messed up because he was threatening to shoot the guy if he didn't say who it was.

And have you always been watching Heroes? Did I know that and forget or were you lured by the promise of the Eccleston? ^.~

I caught up over Christmas and have been watching ever since! I think I remember a conversation on the PATH about how much we hated Peter's hair, but maybe that was with [livejournal.com profile] feiran? Anyway, the Eccleston was a pleasant surprise. :)

::laughs:: Yes, Peter's hair is terrible. I think I've even heard the actor hates it. I dunno why they think he needs it. He looks young enough.

Yay for happy Eccleston surprises. Every show should have one!
