Okay y'all, for reals, can we please see 300 this weekend? I am unfortunately busy Saturday night, but I would be available tomorrow night or Sunday afternoon (or early enough on Saturday afternoon).

So, vote for y'alls availability, and I'll figure out when we go. All showtimes are at the 34th Street AMC/Loews 'cause the tickets is cheaper.

Last night, I popped in Ultraviolet (the Brit TV show about vampires, not the terrible movie with Milla Jovavich) and [livejournal.com profile] feiran made some wry comment about how quickly I get obsessed with things. [livejournal.com profile] darkling1, bless him, said, "But it's only six hours long! That's not long enough for anyone to get obsessed with anything!" [livejournal.com profile] feiran gave him the pitious look of, "You don't know Trinity very well, do you?"

To be fair, I am not obsessed with the show, though I do like it. The advantage of it being so short and having just the one series is that there is a definite pace, with timely reveals and well-positioned points that move the story along. It's something that, if the creators of LOST, say, had actually had in mind since starting the show (as opposed to clearly making shit up as they went along) would have made for better television. Might be a bit boring for the writers, as they can't deviate or get too clever with the plot, but it makes for more solid a viewing experience, and that's what I want, thanks.

And, okay, yeah, it's not exactly hard work to look at Jack Davenport either, but I swear that's not it. I really do like the way it's been set up so as not to make the team we should be sympathizing with all that sympathetic. I've got two more episodes to go, and I'm half afraid they're going to try for a twist-like ending, seeing as they know they've only got the six episodes total and they need to end dramatically. Mostly, I'm terrified that the stupid love interest girl is gonna get Jack Davenport, when his much cuter, much smarter, much better dressed, much more everything better ex is running around somewhat more clued in to his doings and much cooler about it than love-interest waffling wallflower girl. Ah well, don't spoil me!

OK, that's two mentions of Ultraviolet in a week. I have to Netflix it now, don't I?

Or borrow it from [livejournal.com profile] darkling1 as soon as I finish it. It's good. It took me a few Brit shows to be able to understand their accents and what not, but now I do, it's great.

Well, turns out it's not on Netflix anyway. Crap. I still have [livejournal.com profile] darkling1's BSG...

I think you're actually watching [livejournal.com profile] bigscary's copy, as my DVD set is at home. So [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 can borrow them any time.

I'm glad you can follow the dialogue now! When I first started watching shows like Red Dwarf in high school I complained to [livejournal.com profile] invisibledan that I couldn't understand what they were saying, but once he pushed Doctor Who on me, I caught on right quick.

I watched the Ninth Doctor's run with subtitles on. After that primer, I caught up and now I can understand the cadences of Brit-speak better than American English.

Ah, we have [livejournal.com profile] bigscary's? I forgot whose it was properly as I think we had two sets in the old apartment a while back. I will be sure to return it to its rightful owner then.

What in the world are you talking about. The terrible Milla Jovovich movie is AWESOME.

I've not seen it. The "terrible" rating comes from a friend who desperately wanted to see it even if ti was terrible, and even she was like "That was some awful shit."

It's not worth my time to see it, neither I'll stick with the Ultraviolet I know, cheers.

Having seen the movie in question I can say that I rate it a "campy cute". Kind of like what RE would look like while on a lot of acid and "happy" pills.

Oh, it's not worth anyone's time to see it. It's so bad the government should introduce "Ultraviolet Savings Time" so that people can get their time back.

I love Ultraviolet!! I'm not sure if you're a musical theatre fan, but Philip Quast, who plays the priest, was Javert in the Les Mis 10th Anniversary Concert. A singing voice like a drrrreeeeam. :)

He has a lovely deep voice, so that's cool.

And Ultraviolet had kind of a nothing-doing ending. Though I am glad that Jack Davenport was not forced to end up with hysterical chippie as romantic link. For reals.
