For I have finished, just now, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I say nothing of details, mind, but this is the strongest book, the one I have liked the best, since Prisoner of Azkaban. I am, simply and completely satisfied with so worthy a conclusion to the series I have enjoyed now since first I listened to Jim Dale's wonderful narration of Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone five years ago.

Of course, I wept bitterly. Don't take that as being over anything specific, either (though some events did reduce me to being unable to read for tears). I was pretty weepy throughout much of the last half. Just one of those things.

Normally, it is so hard to say goodbye. Really, though, while I'm sorry the series is over, I could not have gotten anything better or enjoyed it more. If ever I thought Rowling deserved her fame, I think so twice as much now. Well done, ma'am.

I was curiously unable to cry, especially given how I had tears rolling down my face BOTH times I read the Dumbledore funeral scene. I almost cried at the part where Harry finds Lily's letter and photo, and kind of when I read the Snape chapters....

Ohhhh, vindication and redemption and closure at last..... *sigh*

I thought of you when you-know-who died (and not You-Know-Who; the other one). No spoilers!

But yeah, tears caught me out of nowhere. I even cried over something that happened to Harry. Weeeeird.

As much as I like the series, I just didn't get that emotionally involved. I've wept over books before, but this one didn't do it for me. Maybe partially because I was fully expecting her to kill off half the minor characters.

Yeah, ditto. I only got teary over one of the little deaths, and I was expecting to come out of it devastated.

Hmm. Do you mean the littlest death? (Trying not to be spoileriffic here... but I do want to discuss this book at some point).

I didn't cry over Sirius, and he was one of my favorites, but I cried at the final battle when they laid some of the dead side-by-side. Just out of nowhere. Can't explain without spoilers, but will do so later.

So...have you heard any of the Stephen Fry HP audiobooks in the UK? Cuz I bet those are awesome too. I didn't know they had a different person recording them over there. Isn't Jim Dale British?

And yeah, this was definitely my favorite since Azkaban and there was much sadness in it. Every time Harry sees his parents it just breaks my heart.

Heard of that, but not heard it. It's weird they have one reader in each place. Maybe the international version is that much different?

Yay! Another 3-to-7 fan. I hear so many who like GoF better. Psh.

Hmm. Frankly, I think that she's created a universe which, fascinating and tempting as it is, is insufficiently rich to support any more stories. So, I think it's good that the stories have ended where they have. Of course I thought this book was really good... but again, trying to avoid spoilers so I'll just have to discuss it more extensively elsewhere, offline, around people who have read it already. :)

I really, really am satisfied with this ending. I wouldn't want any more stories because I'd like to think there wouldn't be any worthy of yet another series. In a good way. I'd explain that more, but I'm avoiding spoilers as best I can.
