DT is doing a pretty intense Royal Shakespeare Company engagement next year, so all they could fit in with him are the specials. The fact that they're specifically shaping the schedule so he can stay gives me hope that we may get another season or two out of him. I wouldn't expect more than that at most, though.
I guess that makes the stress of being tied to such a famous show and famous role a little less. That's why Eccleston left, right? He didn't want to get stuck in the role. They must really like David Tennant.
I think they need a break... BBC shows take long hiatuses between series all the time. And I believe I read somewhere that Davies is leaving after the next season, so they'll probably want to regroup. Frankly, they can use the time to come up with some good stories. And if it's a matter of Tennant taking a break and coming back, or quitting so he can do other things, I'd rather he stay on.
You told me about Davies, and thank heavens. I will not say bad things against him since he brought back Who, but it may be time he moves onto another project and lets some one else have a go at it.
The hell it doesn't! Look at The Sopranos. Look at Farscape. Look at Futurama. Look at the hiatuses we endure every season. At least there's some regularity and planning to the BBC's thinking and this is being shown to people well in advance. As opposed to leaving the scheduling a complete nightmare.
Naw, I've heard that David Tennant is working with Royal Shakespeare Co for the 2009 season, so that's why they're only doing three specials. I've heard he's back for Series 5.
I think I was ignoring your Who-related posts for fears of spoilers because I still hadn't gotten past episode three at that point.
I did know he'd be back for series four, I wasn't aware he'd be back for series five. Honestly, if I insist on being so far behind the times, I should just ignore everything and just be surprised. Surprise!
