And on another random note: I went downstairs to grab a diet pepsi and got a flu shot. I mean, I got the pepsi, too, but today is apparently one of the scheduled days they're offering for people who work here. Nice perk.

Stupid muscle shot, though. And I have to take prophylactic tylenol just in case the flu shot...induces an immune response to having the flu. Man, it's a good thing I've got tomorrow off.

If I was focused purely on the immunological side of things then yeah you would be right (note that the first paragraph in your article is a reminder of what age groups the shot really should go to). You actually have to be sick to learn how to moderate symptoms. Being sick also helps you learn how to recognize when something is going on with your body, and just what is being affected. Every sickness is an educational experience which helps with dealing with the next one. I'd rather do all that learning now while my body can take it then further down the road when such lessons are far riskier.

PS: You do know that the flu shot is only their best guess of a couple of strains they think are going to hit it big. They have been wrong a few times.
