Aww, the Department Head just had her first baby like less than half an hour ago. She called her lab herself to tell them, and they're spreading the word around. The girl bringing the glad tidings is beaming like a crazy person. Methinks she would like to be next (she got married a year and a half ago, so it's probably on the agenda after getting her degree).

Okay, I may not luuuurve kids, but babies are always a reasonable excuse for joy, neh?

Speaking of, ecmyers sent me this story, which also made me go aawwwwww: Johnny Depp is awesomer than you ever knew. Like I said to him and feiran, I totally get it. I get choked up thinking about my baby niece being unhappy, let alone seriously ill, and she's not even mine. If I had teh monies, I would totally...well, okay, I'd spoil myself first, but I might be persuaded to give to charity involving children living longer.

Once they're adults, though, shoot 'em. Just my policy.

Oh my god, she did? That's fantastic! I didn't even know she was pregnant. YAY! :)

See, I knew she was pregnant, but a combination of her size, her clothing preference and the fact that I almost never see her made it difficult to tell at all.

But, yep, 8 lbs 7 oz little boy, ten fingers, ten toes!
