Because they think this is funny.

In case that link hurt your eyeballs the way it did mine, here's the jist of it. I'm royally pissed off that the radio station I listen to is heavily advertising this mask of Bridget Moynahan's face for all Giants fans. For those not up on either celebrity or football news, this is an attempt to psycho out the quarterback of the New England Patriots, Tom Brady based on the fact that he dumped Moynahan around the time she announced she was pregnant with his child (can't recall if it was immediately before or just after).

Regardless, this is an incredibly DOUCHEBAGGY thing to do. I don't care about poor Tom Brady's feelings being hurt. I'm more appalled that it's entirely okay to abuse what is obviously an intimate, personal matter of some delicacy for the purpose of supporting your team. So much for good sportsmanship. If you are a Giants fan, and god forbid you're going to the mega game, do me a favor? Punch anyone wearing one of these in the face. Their real face. Then remind them that there's an honest to God human woman whom they're exploiting for the purposes of being jackasses.

Wow. Yeah, that's awful. But don't blame it on sports fans--blame it on obnoxious radio hosts. Though I'll agree that anyone wearing one of these deserves a beating.

I blame sports fans for it because otherwise I'd have to stop listening to the radio station. Also because I was stuck in the elevator with guys with thick necks going "ARE YOU GOING TO THE GAME?" "NO, MAN, YOU'D HAVE TO KILL SOMEBODY FOR THOSE TICKETS."

To which I would have responded, "I'll happily kill you both for less than the cost of one ticket to the Super Bowl," but they'd mercifully (for them) gotten off. I settled on glaring death at them.

So you wouldn't feel the same way about, say, front-row tickets to a U2 concert? :)

I would, but I would like to think I'd have more sense than to shout about it in an elevator. Or to commandeer every Sunday from August to February in pursuit of Bono and company.

Ah, so you weren't a Deadhead, eh? :)

Heh, alas not. Honestly, I've been crazy for music but never so crazy for a band that I needed to be close to them all the time. I'm sort of like [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 that way--I have a no-contact policy towards the bands I like. See 'em in concert, and that's about it.

Wow. That is really pathetic.

I was going to respond, but I got totally distracted by your icon. I started giggling like mad, thinking, "What that icon needs is the phrase 'We are not amused' at the bottom."

Not that it's not fabulous on its own (it totally is).

Hahah. You're right that would make it even better. I did look, but this was my favorite one that I found. :)

It's a faboo icon anyways, not to worry. I have since rethought and realized that Helena Bonham Carter is smiling too much to really sell it.

So, it stands as the best icon by far. Hurrah!

I blame the New York Post for making it look like this silliness works. They sent a Jessica Simpson lookalike to the Giants/Cowbows game to "distract" the Cowboys' quarterback, and hey, the Giants won! And now we have to go through this nonsense for the Superbowl too.

Ugh, don't get me started on the Jessica Simpson thing. It's so fucking ridiculous to blame the guy's date for everything that I shouldn't even have to rant about how it's also the ugliest bit of sexism.

More than that, though, I'm pissed at the Pink Platoon's new conquest of jerseys. I'd seen Simpson wearing one, but I was in the mall the other day, and sure enough, they're everywhere. I'd like to think that, if you REALLY liked a team, getting their jersey period would be enough. You really have to be a poseur to go out of your way to advertise that you don't give a fuck and are a powderpuff to boot with a pink goddamned jersey.

And did I mention I HATE THE FACT THAT PINK = GIRL?!

M has a pink Steelers jersey from her mom. She loves it. :P

Of course she does. I immediately thought of her, actually. She likes the pink. I've given up trying to save her from it.
