I have like a bajillion comic books. I went home for a day and came back with what I had and I'm looking at half of these for the first time, I swear.

WHO WANTS COMIC BOOKS? No, seriously. I checked up on a few of these to see if they were worth anything. Some actually are worth about double cover price, but I know I'll never get off my ass to go haggle at a store or anything, so I might as well just give them away. That's my plan. I'm weeding through stuff and I'll just donate them to the first charity that will take them...once I find one.

So, does anyone want a bunch of various and sundry comics? List of some of the ones I've got below the lj-cut.

Ultimate Spider-Man 1-22, 40-42
X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land 1-4
Ultimate X-Men 1-3, 7-18, 33-34
X-Treme X-Men 1-13, 27
Blink 1-4
Bishop 16
X-Men Universe 3-9
Mystique 1-3
Lady Death 1-5
The Secret Defenders 2
X-Men Adventures
Force Works 1
New X-Men 119-125, 116-117, 114
X-Men Unlimited 3, 16, 22, 25, 28, 29-31, 33
X-Men Annual 2000
Giant-Sized Gambit
Gambit Annual 1999, 2000
Gambit 2, 4, 16, 20-21, 23-25
Transformers 1-2
Exiles 1-13, 25, 27-28
Warlands 1-4
Shidima 0-4
X-Men Evolution 1
Nightcrawler 1 of 4
Uncanny X-Men 372, 383-392, 395-403, 405-406
X-Men 108, 110-112
Icons: Cyclops 1-4
Icons: Iceman 1-4
Icons: Rogue 1-4

What If…
…Rogue possessed the power of Thor?
…Wedding Album
…Cylcops and Havok, the early years
…the greatest secret of the Marvel Universe Revealed
…Colossus Possessed
…Revenge!
…the X-Men Died on Their First Mission?
…The Age of Apocalypse Had Not Ended?
…Blink from Generation X Had Not Died?
…three tales of alternate realities

It's mostly X-Men stuff from the early part of this decade and late part of the one previous. If you're interested in anything, I'll set it aside and it's yours the next time I see you. There will probably be more as I go through and realize that, no, I don't need Excalibur either...

Anyone who doesn't want them but might know where I can easily offload them would be my hero. I'm tempted to try giving the more recent ones to Midtown and see if they'd just give me like a $1 for them. Or, you know, charity. Honestly, the write-off for donating these to charity might be more worth it as I can claim their full value for each one. Ah, hassle! SOMEONE PLEASE JUST TAKE THESE!

I'm only tempted to sell because I keep seeing how much money I spent on these. The ones that I enjoy are like the free ones I got from my brother's leavings, some old DC (probably reprints) I got a bogan toy store upstate, and a few from the old school fair when I was in elementary school. Those I'm actually hanging onto because at this point, I've reread them to pieces and I just know the stories so well. Even if they're not good (most aren't), I can't let go of them.

Too bad you don't have a copy of What If... X-Men 3 Hadn't Sucked :P

You should read some of the plots to the What Ifs... some of them make X-Men 3 look good...

Isn't it always weird to realize how much one has spent on something? My weakness is kitchen gadgets, personally. That and lipgloss. I'm such a dork. Haha.

Anyway, i will have to dig p the link, but there is a site that has compiled all of theplaces in NYC where you can donate anything, and once I find the link, I shall send it to you, or post it or what have you, just in case. :)

Oh cheers, that would be brilliant. I called Housing Works, and apparently they would take some. I need to find out if I can get an official writ up for a tax break, that's all.

Haha! I had to hunt it down, but NYC Stuff Exchange. They have a way to search for the kind of thing you want to donate, and they will tell you who will accept it. :)

Cool. I might have an even better answer, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks

If you're just giving them away, I'll take the lot of them, and if Jethrien and I don't want to keep them, I'll ferry them over to my dad to dispose of at the next con he gets to (with the giant stack of DCs that are similarly consigned).

That's an incredibly awesome solution for me, and I'll totally do it. The 50-75 cents worth extra any of these might be worth is not worth haggling over with some or another comic store or some such.

What's your Dad going to do with them, out of curiosity?

My dad will occasionally go to a small con (usually in upstate NY) and set up the "1/$1, 2/$1, 3/$1, 4/$1" Box. (You can take up to four comics, but he won't make change.) If we're lucky, before the end of the con the entire remaining box will get sold off to a dealer.

Of course, if I decide I want to keep them, this won't be necessary. Jethrien and I will undoubtably read every one of them, first.

You're welcome to do so. I would hold back for anyone who asked, but no one has except you guys. I've got some decent stuff, but, looking at it again, nothing I'd need to keep. Re-reading the beginning of Ultimate Spider-Man was fun, though :)

Okay, so, about 175 books, yes? Wanna just bag the lot up, and the next time we're over for gaming/movies/whatever, I'll lug them home?

I have no idea how many there are, but yes, I can do that! Thank you so much!

Yeah, I shudder to think how much money I've spent over comics over the years. I comfort myself with the thought that it was my only real vice all through high school and college, but still there was a period where I was spending $5-20 a WEEK, and that went for YEARS.

Ugh.

I wish I did know some place that would take them. And I appreciate the offer, but I have enough of my own already. Good luck finding them a home, though!

I might have done just now, which is awesome. They're off to a better place. I could really beat myself up about the expense, but as you say, it's a vice that isn't as costly as some others. And, hey, if they go on to somebody else, then they're really a gift that keeps on giving and that's worth the investment.

This is why I try to make my collection of trades (and novels, for that matter) available to my friends. The Dollars/Hours of Amusement ratio improves dramatically if other people get to enjoy them.

I've gotten lazy about my comic reading in general, but I'm totally spoiled by TPBs to the point that I plain don't want to go through the hassle of individual issues any more. I'd just as soon browse them when they're in a book. (A lot of this is also my frustration with the comic narratives that always got cut off when I couldn't get the next issue.)

But yeah, half the fun of the story is in sharing it. This is why I flog my DVDs at everyone.

Oh God, the magic cards... weeping ... Anyway, I'm curious to know what the hell "X-Treme X-Men" is?

Also, who knows what you could trade for on craigslist, those boards are awesome.

X-Treme X-Men was some parallel thing...I don't even really know. It was maybe what X-Men became? Or was that New X-Men? I dunno. It wasn't worth what I spent on it, that much is certain.
