Women can be funny, but I didn't laugh at that. It was just too sad.
Let's not kid ourselves, though: This is what millions of American women want to watch. No one's forcing them to watch them degrade each other, any more than they're forced to see Pictures of Celebrities Looking Fat in the supermarket tabloids.
Part of the oppression cycle is to internalize the hatred and the prison to the point that female viewership does "explain" shows like this woman is satirizing. Women watch to mock other women to prove that they aren't the stereotype and in hopes of achieving male support by villifying other females. This is not an uncommon tactic. We see it all the time in the tokenism of female right-wingers who, in order to ingratiate themselves into the white male power stronghold, throw other women and equality under the bus.
But I thought the announcer lady was hilarious. "I DOOOOOO...."
LOL at that girl who was "too fat" for her wedding dress at like a size 7. If I'd left any room between the dress and my boobs, it would've FALLEN OFF THEM. I didn't realize that was the goal!
