Improvements--we has them
So this new vet place is pretty good. They called us super late last night to say they'd removed the catheter and so far so good with the kitty. We get to pick him up today and cuddle him lotses and put him on his special diet and see how it goes from there.
I've ordered a pet fountain for their drinking water. Reading the description on Amazon made me really annoyed because it says all over the place that drinking fountains tend to increase pets' water intake which can prevent/avoid urinary tract problems! You tell me that now? Man, I always wanted a fountain and now I get one and it's to make sure my cat's bladder doesn't seize up again! One day, I will get my own fountain! This I swear!
But yeah, kitteh sounds like he's doing well and we'll be keeping an eye on him and dragging him back up to the Bronx for another round of x-rays to see if the diet is working on the deposits in his bladder. I think Oscar is missing the company desperately because he's even more under foot than his usual. Poor baby.

i did not know you did not know. My former cat Del had bladder problems, so when I got Sylar a fountain was one of the first thing I get. Hint: get one where water flows down a slope....not the one that free falls. Its kinda noisy for me, ed's mom has one that's like a sink running and it does not bother her...then again she is deaf so that might have something to do with it....

I'm sure that, noisy or no, I'll learn to ignore whatever sounds it makes. Last night, I was pouring kitty food back into the bag (the vet says no Friskies) and Carrie and I both went, "ooh, sounds like rain." We're odd enough that a fountain will work regardless, methinks. So long as the kitty drinks from it, I can live.

this is the one that i have and it works really well, easy to take apart and pop in dishwasher (so easy even a boy can do it!)

oh, one other peice of advice....a towel or plastic placemat under it, all four kitties did the "what the heck...its moving!!!" with their paws for the first few days. lot of wet pawprints on walls and floor around it.
