So this new vet place is pretty good. They called us super late last night to say they'd removed the catheter and so far so good with the kitty. We get to pick him up today and cuddle him lotses and put him on his special diet and see how it goes from there.

I've ordered a pet fountain for their drinking water. Reading the description on Amazon made me really annoyed because it says all over the place that drinking fountains tend to increase pets' water intake which can prevent/avoid urinary tract problems! You tell me that now? Man, I always wanted a fountain and now I get one and it's to make sure my cat's bladder doesn't seize up again! One day, I will get my own fountain! This I swear!

But yeah, kitteh sounds like he's doing well and we'll be keeping an eye on him and dragging him back up to the Bronx for another round of x-rays to see if the diet is working on the deposits in his bladder. I think Oscar is missing the company desperately because he's even more under foot than his usual. Poor baby.

Well, we've had a mat under the bowls since forever. The first waterer I got for while we were away was an adapter that fit onto a 2L soda bottle. It was too light, though, and as soon as they figured out they could make more bubbles go up the bottle by knocking it around, they spilled 2L of water everywhere every chance they got.

So, yeah, we've had a mat under the food/water for a while now :)

LOL, sounds like Sylar. Bella is a prim and proper princess....Sylar loves to play in, with, around, whatever when it comes to water....we learned quickly to put the lid down on the toilets less we get one flooded bathroom and one soaked kitten....yeah, not the smartest kitten "Anti-Sylar" might have been a better name for him...

Wally will constantly drink out of the toilet. He jumps if we catch him at it, like he knows he's guilty. I woulda gotten the fountain an age ago if I'd known he wanted running water so bad. I just thought he liked splashing in the water like your kitty.

yeah it actually surprised me when i found out about running water but it makes sense. Cats are desert creatures, so really, they see running water and some instinct clicks says "WATER! better get it while its fresh!" that's the other nice thing, because its moving it never goes stale (ever drink a bottle of water you left around? same thing)
