As I mentioned to some people last night

My granddad was in the Navy. I don't know much, though I know a little more than most. When John McCain, the poster child for cronyism and nepotism, claps a Chief Petty Officer on the shoulder, that's not respect. That's a goof-off patronizing a salior who proved himself to be a responsible motherfucker.

Keep smiling, Chief. Your respect of rank was better than McCain's.

Did you read the Rolling Stone article that gets into some of the details about McCain's military career?

Appalling, if true.

ETA: of course I posted this before actually clicking your links. :P

I was gonna say...

No, see that's why I got mad at the debate last night. A man who made Chief Petty Officer did serious work both as a sailor and a leader. McCain got his Dad to pull strings so his umpteen-billion crashes and demerits for behavior unbecoming didn't stop him from being Captain. I found his treatment of that sailor really, really patronizing.

Also, that article on McCain freaked me the fuck out. I couldn't stop reading even though everything I read scared the piss out of me.
