My granddad was in the Navy. I don't know much, though I know a little more than most. When John McCain, the poster child for cronyism and nepotism, claps a Chief Petty Officer on the shoulder, that's not respect. That's a goof-off patronizing a salior who proved himself to be a responsible motherfucker.

Date: 2008-10-09 03:54 am (UTC)No, see that's why I got mad at the debate last night. A man who made Chief Petty Officer did serious work both as a sailor and a leader. McCain got his Dad to pull strings so his umpteen-billion crashes and demerits for behavior unbecoming didn't stop him from being Captain. I found his treatment of that sailor really, really patronizing.
Also, that article on McCain freaked me the fuck out. I couldn't stop reading even though everything I read scared the piss out of me.
