Oh, Country
Nov. 5th, 2008 01:55 amGood job, country. You did it. You voted, you volunteered, you donated, you prayed, you discussed, and you decided.
I want to be crowing in victory, but I'm seriously at a loss for words. People honked at us as we walked home, and all we could do was shout back. Every little bit of news that comes along could be the one that finally busts out the waterworks that are lying under the surface. I can't even crow loudly, it seems unsportsmanlike, especially after John McCain's speech of Platonic-ideal level graciousness.
Mostly? I so relieved that the results are decisive. It's not fixed perfectly (the wonderful folk I know who suffered long lines to vote can attest to that), but the mandate is clear: it is time that we become the change we wish to see in the world.
