The kitten is back in our apartment, and he's still pretty much as annoying as ever. The vet clipped his claws, too, so he's got almost no traction and he can't wound me quite as much when he tries to attack my feet. And Oscar is already onto the HISS-HISS-GROOOOWL cycle. I thought, maybe, with Titus being gone for only 24 hours or so, this wouldn't require re-introduction periods of meanness. I was wrong. Sigh.

For those of you who voted on when our mailbox dilemma would end, the answer is: today. The mailboxes were apparently ready and keys were handed out during the middle of the day sometime this week. The super left no notice whatsoever near the boxes, and since none of us are home all day from 9-to-5 (there's this work thing we do), we missed knowing this until I asked another resident. When I went down to get the keys this evening, I found out that he'd come by last night. You know, when obviously no one was going to be home because it's Valentine's Day, and absolutely everyone, single or no, goes out to have fun?

So who came closest without going over? That would be a tie between the lovely [livejournal.com profile] jendaby and equally lovely [livejournal.com profile] moonlightalice! [livejournal.com profile] jendaby guessed eight days for the boxes to be fixed and set up, and [livejournal.com profile] moonlightalice said five; since I have absolutely no idea when the boxes actually were fixed, they both are right. And they both guessed that we would get our keys in just shy of two weeks from the first day of interrupted delivery. It's the 15th, and the boxes went out of commission on the 3rd, so that's 13 days. Amazing powers of prediction! Well done, ladies! I congratulate you. I'll be over here sorting through the mail, screaming with rage.

Two weeks? That's all? Damn. Apparently I've managed to underestimate your landlords.

I wonder if anyone threatened to sue because they couldn't get important mail (like, mail with money in it).

Well, some of our tax forms were in that mail, so if this had happened, say, in April, we could have been hosed. I bet we could have taken issue with it then. But sued? No. Because the way the system is set up, we'd have been expected to go to the Post Office before work and figure out how to retrieve the mail from there. Not doing so leading to a trouble with tax mail would just be our fault for being lazy (or, you know, unable to take off work).
