It's been a combination of a rotten 40 years, a not-quite-proportional state senate districting, political dynasticism, and some particularly power-hungry people jumping ship at bad times.
What annoys me is I said around the office, again and again, not to get new comfortable in our new digs, and people told me it was a virtual impossibility...
As BSD says, the chamber is still working under a Republican-engineered gerrymander, so the Dems are at a disadvantage to begin with. Add the feuding and corruption in the Bronx Democratic machine and you've got a recipe for endless chaos and disruption.
At least these antics might get Espada kicked out in the next primary (Monserrate was toast to begin with).
