Indeed. I saw a youtube video of Nichelle Nichols at a Star Trek XI showing in California, and she was talking about how it was all about the characters, not the people playing them, saying "it's not me, or George or Leonard...and it's DEFINITELY not William." Oh so funny, Ms. Nichols. :-P
No slight on Zoe Saldana, she's pretty, but she wishes she was ever as beautiful as Nichelle Nichols. Nichelle Nichols was and is a beautiful woman. It's like some amazing bonus that she had a figure. Zoe Saldana looks like some kind of a stick insect on stilts next to her.
I am reminded of that ad campaign trying to sell a "No fatties" yogurt or whatever that put plus-sized women in famously sexy movie poses and that every single person in the real world thought was sexier with the overweight women in place. The ability to see every single bone on a person's body is only interesting or attractive to lazy doctors.
To be fair, Nichelle Nichols had the bonus of being young and pretty in the 1960s, a decade that was so outrageously fashionable that just about everyone looked good. (The ones who didn't...really, really didn't, and they had to try.) But yeah, gor-geous.
