This will teach me to sleep without my eye mask--I got woken up at 7 am by the light and had so much trouble going back to sleep that I missed my alarm and woke up at 11:30. Awesome.

Of course, today, nobody needs me for anything, so it's hardly like I was missed. To prove it, I'm going to spend the next few minutes on continuing the music meme I started yesterday!

Day 01 – A favorite song
Day 02 - A song that makes you happy

It was a tough call with this one. I have several hundred songs that make me happy, though usually for varying degrees of happy, i.e. songs that make me happy because they feed my angry or sad mood. But there are two songs that never, ever fail to make me happy--actively, smilingly, laughing out loud for no reason happy. They're both, funnily enough, songs by The Cure. I give "Friday I'm In Love" the edge over "Just Like Heaven" because I've liked it for longer and it is even more relentlessly upbeat than "Just Like Heaven." Also because I finally caught a $10 Threadless sale so I could buy this shirt. I've coveted it for months and I was a good girl and waited until it was on sale and soon it will be mine, precious.

That shirt is amazing. I'm in awe. And now I want to listen to Just Like Heaven.

Isn't it adorable? I have held off buying it for MONTHS, and of course, when it comes around again on sale, it's all but sold out. I have to hope the boy-shirt size I got is good for me. Love it. And The Cure, obviously.

This is one of my happy songs, too. :)

I KNO, RITE? Love that shirt. So happy I will soon be in possession of that shirt. I will wear it all the time and roll around in it.

Like most songs by The Cure, it's probably got some secretly depressing message (this is why I ruled out "Just Like Heaven," honestly) beneath the insanely poppy hook. I don't care. It's beautiful and silly and I love it.

Which is really funny to me since I, like most people, don't really associate that band with happy!fun!songs! I used to really, really like them for their depressing stuff, too.

I prefer the real video on youtube because of Smith's crazy dancing in the bridge.

The real video had disabled embedding, so I had to go with another. I could have taken one of their live performances, except that most of the live performances sound like ass. There was one I almost picked on hilarity value alone. It was some German music awards, and a guy who looked like the rejected third partner to Sigfried and Roy introduced them and Robert Smith looked intensely nervous to be singing on stage...

But, no, I went with the recording version that was embeddable and not obnoxious.
