Ever wanted to know what this still amazing stick-figure fighting video would look like with real people? WONDER NO MORE:

Does it make watching a full hour-and-a-half movie where a stuntman "acts" (and is, unfortunately, the best actor of the lot) worth it? No. Was it pretty damn awesome? Yes. I wouldn't recommend seeing the movie Ninja, not even for all that Ryan Reynolds' doppleganger-esque stunt double looks fucking amazing with his shirt off. (He's not even shirtless all that much!) It suffers from "What These People Need Is A Honky" syndrome, in addition to the aforementioned horrid acting (the guy in the video going "KILL HIM!" is probably the worst).

But that clip is pretty fucking sweet, no? Just thought I'd share.

Eh, still not as good as Ong-Bak.

To be entirely fair: What is?

But there's something fun with this style of obviously stylized movie martial artistry. If you want the real thing, you go for that. Mostly, you gotta love how choreographed this was, no?

Did you ever see Unleashed? If you haven't, let me know, I can lend it to you or something.

The choreography in this clip was really cool, but the editing and the set design was horrible.

They managed to make what he was doing look boring as hell. That takes some doing when your star is a guy who's planned and done choreography with the likes of Yuen Wo Ping and Jeff Imada.

Agreed on all points. The editing really was terrible throughout. It was a terrible movie. Still enjoyed what they were able to do despite that.

Speaks to his skill in planning and setting up his fight scenes. That stuff is really hard to do and make convincing without the quick-cut crap we see so much these days.

Attack of the evil hoodies! Bullets won't pierce the armored table but the fall of a slim guy totally breaks it in half! What's not to like?

I kinda loved that whole scene. Again, didn't rescue the movie, but it was fun. I love Hollywood physics, too.

Awesome. I'd actually like to see this whole film, terrible acting or not.

There's probably one other fight scene that comes anywhere close to this one. And the boy is pretty, but that's probably not an enticement for you.

Mmmm, pretty boys. Haha just kidding -- it's not so much an enticement for me. So is it entertainingly bad or just boring?

Alas, just boring. That's worse than it being bad, you know? Make me groan and you're at least memorable. Be boring and I start to tune out.

Yeah, I know. They're two entirely different things. If it's just boring, then I'm not going to waste my time on it. If you're gonna be bad, at least be laughably bad and make me cringe/groan/whatever. Give me and my friends something more to talk about than just how dull you are.

He's also great in the silly Undisputed II. I dunno what you'd think of it but as a kicking-and-punching movie goes it's pretty good.

No Twitter love? I followed you but you didn't follow back. I did it because I'm rarely on LJ...

But...I am following you. I just saw your Tweet about Due Date...

*shrug* it says you have to confirm my request to follow you because your account is private.

Oh, I see. So, when I added you to my Twitter feed, there was some issue with following you. The website froze up as I was adding you to my permissions list and setting up to follow you as well. Since I could follow you, I assumed that all the changes I made had gone through despite the snafu. I guess not. Anyway, fixed.
