trinityvixen: (blogging from work)

Since starting my new (now seven months old) job, I've not been a regular on LJ. I used to post once a day. The new job started up and I was busier during and after work and now it's more like once a week. Today has been an anomaly since this is, as my subject says, the fourth post I'm making today.

Anyway, in effort to be more regularly around, I'm doing a 30-day meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] droidguy1119. This should be easy since it's all about movies. I am going to modify it, as he plans to, to state that my "favorite" is subject to change and most answers will be chosen from among several favorites (or, as necessary, least favorites).

30 Day Movie Challenge:
Day 01 - Your favorite movie

I have seen many movies in the theaters multiple times. But no matter how many times teenage me watched The Matrix, toddler me had her beat. There used to be a teeny tiny little video store back in the day (we're talking it-was-located-in-a-strip-mall-with-a-Woolworth's back in the day) that had two copies of Sleeping Beauty. I would rent one and, in three days, take it back and rent the other copy. My mother would take roughly ten minutes to pick out movies, during which I would browse the horror movie section (I liked to look at the backs of the VHS covers and gawk at gory stuff) and then return to the front with the empty jacket for Sleeping Beauty in hand.

It may not be the movie I turn to nowadays, but it's definitely an all-time favorite.

Ah, good movie. I saw it in the theater somehow when I was a kid, but I didn't see it again until after high school. My girlfriend at the time demanded I see it since I hadn't seen it recently enough to remember much and it was her favorite movie. I bought her this awesome snowglobe I found at the Disney Store in the mall for her birthday (or maybe it was Valentine's Day).

Now to decide whether or not I want to commit to the meme and start posting it on my page...

That's delightful! And please do steal the meme. It's so much fun!

I'll just play along in comments unless I decide not to!

Lilo and Stitch. Or maybe Scanners. Eh, probably Lilo and Stitch. It's the only movie that once came on TV, I watched it straight through, and then it repeated and I just watched it again.

I remember you liked Lilo and Stitch nearly inordinately. Figures. You do like adorable things.

You can do the meme on your own journal, you know. But I'm happy to have you here if you'd prefer!

I also loved Sleeping Beauty, and was a fervent supporter of blue-dress Aurora. I'm incensed every time I see her in Disney Princess advertising in pink.

Also, there exists a recording of four-year-old me singing Once Upon a Dream, though I'm sure I've told you that eighteen times before. I wish I knew where it was...

And somehow my parents were surprised when I'd go see movies in the theaters over and over and over...

I, too, am incensed at the pink dress. Not in the least because it misses a great opportunity to sell me princess stuff that changes color. You're missing out on a mint, Disney!

(Stupid Cinderella gets the blue dress. Her dress was fucking white! Silver! I refuse to allow it was blue!)

A classic, and worthy of that title, to be sure.

My favorite movie? I'd probably still have to say Blazing Saddles. Never gets old. Ever.

I'd like to quote that movie, but most of the best lines use the N-word. Of course, probably my favorite line is the exchange of "Oh booyys! Lookee what I got here!" "Hey, where the white women at?" So that's safe.

I still like Spaceballs better. "My hair! He shot my hair! SON OF A BITCH."

"Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges."

"Hush, Harriet! Can't you see that's a sure way to get him killed?"

"Oh, baby, you are so talented. And they are so dumb!"

"The hard part was inventing the candy-gram. And I bet I won't even get credit for it."

And so on. :)

Yeah, but teenage you watched the Matrix some unholy number of times in theaters! Surely that counts double! :P

It counts, but it doesn't count enough. Besides, the sequels have still ruined that movie for me for a long, long time.
