We're not seeing Thor in 3D, as I think most of you are relieved to know. Which means our options are, alas, limited. The best theater with a convenient and decidedly 2D showing of this year's MAY MOVIE is the Kips Bay Theater, which is on 2nd Avenue between 32nd and 31st street. It's a bit of a hike over from nearby subway lines, I do realize that, but it's worth it not to kill the lady (or dude! I'm not judging!)-boners with the 3D headache.

SO IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND THIS YEAR'S MAY MOVIE, buy tickets for:
THOR

Jesus, is it coming out this Friday already? Gonna have to see it. Probably not until at least Sunday, though. And I feel your pain. One of my best friends gets these "3D headaches" and does nothing but piss and moan about it and won't take part in 3D movies. He's one who enjoys mocking things though and it sometimes seems like he'd rather bash and mock than give something a chance simply because the insults are more humorous than praise. Who knows. Anyway, I'll see it whichever way I can.

3D less makes me headache-y, though it does, than it makes me slightly nauseated. The dimness is a problem, too. It's a lot of trade-offs for something that has yet to be truly impressive. Even Avatar, for all that is was made specifically to be seen in 3D was only so-so to me. (Of course, it looks better in 3D and is probably the only reason to see that movie in the theater or anywhere else.)

I just have to hope that movies shot in 3D are still good in 2D because I just don't have any plans to see anything in it for a while.

I'm not a big fan of 3D and would usually prefer 2D to begin with, but I can't help wanting to see the ones that are supposed to really take advantage of it that way. Like I HAD to see Tron: Legacy in 3D just because it seemed like the type of film 3D was made for and vice versa. I saw How To Train Your Dragon in 3D (great film, but I don't recall how much I liked/disliked the 3D) and the latest Resident Evil, whose 3D made me irate...and I think I've ranted about it in a comment to one of your entries already.

I would really like the 3D craze to go away so I don't have to worry about films that shouldn't be in 3D being released that way.

I'm working on it. :) I do appreciate the 2-D, however--as one of the people who cannot see the 3-D and so would only be spending extra money and possibly getting a headache in the bargain, thank you.

And are there dinner plans beforehand? Because you know, Kip's Bay is only a few blocks from Second Ave. Deli. I'm just sayin' . . . :)

I am beginning to wonder if part of my problem with the 3D is that I don't see it perfectly either. I am constantly distracted by the two images not really lining up at the edge of my vision. I know that most people say that's supposed to happen, and if you don't look right at it, it's fine, but it drives me buggy.

As for dinner, I cannot commit to plans, though you're welcome to make some. I may have to work until almost the movie time itself.

No, no, sorry, we have to sit at opposite ends of the table.

I'm assuming there'll be group dinner plans? And group waiting in line plans?
