I *heart* you, HP
Feb. 24th, 2005 12:59 pmYou may be going bankrupt or whatever from picking up Compaq, but I *heart* you.
My computer arrived today. Ha ha! Triumph of the 3rd Business Day repair warranty! I send it out Monday, it comes back to me today. Whoa. Seriously, I was worried it would come Monday when I have jury duty to get out of and I'd have to get my boss to watch out for it.
They fixed everything I made mention of having a problem with. Apparently, the heatsink/fan needed replacement (which would explain why it kept shutting down--too hot), as did the display (because of the flickering screen), and they replaced the battery which is muchos unexpected. My battery's been kind of shitty because I left it in the laptop while on AC power (something you're not supposed to do, I've learned from my other electronics), but the computer's had a tough time with it anyway. It kept not realizing the battery was charged and saying it was at 0% charge when I hadn't used it. It would keep the charging logo in the corner of the toolbar even when, after clicking on the icon, it said it was 100% charged. And now, thanks to a complaint, I've got a new one.
Hurrah! I can return my family's laptop this weekend. My sister will be overjoyed. Now, just have to cross my fingers that everything is really fixed, see about updating all my software and getting my files back from Pooch.

Date: 2005-02-25 03:52 pm (UTC)My real plan will be to say I no longer live at home, and thus should not be forced to do jury duty in their district. My next excuse is that I am the sole employee at my job and my absence is a hardship on my boss. The last ditch effort is throwing myself on their mercy and letting them know my sister is getting married and I have to leave the Sunday after.
But WTF, mate? This is Westchester! What am I going to be sitting in on? A couple of kids busted for possession? Fuck that.
