trinityvixen: (got nothing)

I had a dream last night where I was walking on the streets of New York City with my mom, and we passed a candy and ice cream shop. I did a double take as we went by because there was a dude looking in the window, and I realized on my second look that it was Nicholas Cage. I ran back and started to chat him up. Reality-me thinks Nicholas Cage movies are so bad they're fantastic, but Dream-me was a fan. Dream-me kept telling him how it was the greatest disappointment of the last few months to me that I missed getting to see Drive Angry in theaters (but that Dream-me would rectify that ASAP when the DVD came out) and that I had dragged out my entire family to see Season of the Witch, which wasn't that good, but goddamn but The Rock is, like, my favorite action movie ever.

I think I started to realize I had, inadvertently, insulted him about the Season of the Witch thing because he started to look uninterested and eventually said, "Yeah, that's great. Did you want me to sign that?" And he took a white paper bucket that I was carrying--we use them at work to bring mice down from our barrier facility--and signed it and walked two steps away to stare at the ice cream shop window intently. My mother asked me if that was as thrilling as I hoped it would be. I said not really, that he signed this bucket and now I had to keep it. What a useless thing.

Then I woke up and thought about posting to LJ about how I broke my Do Not Engage policy, vis a vis celebrities because I woke up still thinking it was something that had happened. It's only just now that I am more awake that I realize it didn't. I know exactly from whence all this has come, by the by--I was looking over my posts for the 30 Day Movie Meme, and there are not one but three entries with Nicholas Cage featured heavily--and, yes, The Rock is one of my favorite action movies of all time. Crazy brain. Do we secretly love Nicholas Cage? I don't know, but I am so looking forward to Drive Angry on DVD...

THAT'S AMAZING! HA! It really does sound like maybe you love Cage on a subconscious level. Congratulations -- your line about having to keep the useless bucket now that it's been signed made me laugh out loud here at work. Loud enough that a coworker came from down the hall and around the corner to ask what was so funny. Aaaah. This is an excellent dream. For the record, despite the fact that I know how weird the and hard to take seriously he's become, I still like Nicholas Cage and just his name is often a big enough point of interest for me to want to see a film. I wanted to see Drive Angry in the theater, but not enough to be too bummed out when I missed it. I will be seeing it shortly after it is released on DVD, though. Haha I'm still smiling over the whole thing. Thanks for sharing. : )

I was totally bummed about missing Drive Angry because it looked like the schlock-fest I didn't get from Season of the Witch. I will ALWAYS watch Nicholas Cage doing anything to be stupid and crazy because it's always funny. If you can't stand an entire movie, there's always this YouTube video of highlights. (http://youtu.be/xP1-oquwoL8) And even that doesn't have some of the best stuff. I cannot wait for Drive Angry. Hell, the first Ghost Rider was the worst thing I'd seen since Catwoman (though not as bad) and I still laughed my fucking head off.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Ah, I didn't see Season of the Witch either. Or a few others judging by that fantastic video clip of him losing his shit. I'd never seen that before and it is incredible. I also love that they use Requiem For A Dream by Clint Mansell for the background music. Haha still crazy to think it's the very same Clint Mansell who played guitar and sang for Pop Will Eat Itself, and industrial band I loved in the early-mid '90s (see videos below -- the second one is especially amusing). It might have been a bigger shock than finding out the man responsible for the awesome music in Tim Burton films and The Simpsons was Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo. ANYWAY, back to Nic Cage, I for one like Ghost Rider and own it on DVD. It was great once I got over how terrible the effects on his skull head were. Did you ever see Amos & Andrew? I saw it in the theater when I was a kid and own the VHS tape. It was the first time I'd ever seen or heard of Nicolas Cage or Samuel Jackson.

You carry mice in white paper buckets? That's really cute...

We carry them in all sorts of containers, really, these are just convenient and disposable. It looks sort of like a KFC bucket for chicken, only smaller.
