I have to post it here. It's the old 'ask me five if you're willing to be asked five back' questions meme. (kudos to [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 for being so bold and actually answering my boring-ass questions)

So, shoot: Five Questions for the Vixen, anyone?

Sorry! didn't see them! Here they are:
1) Asparagus or flip-flops?
2) If you wrote a Harlequin romance novel, what would your psuedonym be?
3) What's your favorite lab procedure?
4) What do you hate about your roommates? (I won't tell...)
5) What pairing would you never read?

1. For wearing, flip-flops. For eating, flip-flops. For guessing how many of it I could make out of recalled Firestone tires, flip-flops (FIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNEE!!!!!)

2. Probably one of my discarded earlier fan-ficcing pseudonyms, but mixed up, so say Phoedra Blakeney.

3. What I like best to do in the lab is make acrylamide gels. There was a while there where I couldn't do any of it right, but once I figured out what my problem was, man, that shit is fun. It makes this reallllllly thin clear gel that's a really cool consistency, and I'd play with it all day if it weren't mad toxic.

4. Hate about my roommates? Lisa makes me feel guilty sometimes that I'm not as neat as would be nice. Conversely, I usually feel Carrie needs to be neater, though of late, I must admit I'm the offender when it comes to leaving my crap out. She could do the dishes more or take out the garbage. All of these things I've said, and she does occasionally get better at them.

5. Pairing would I never read? A lot, actually. I won't read any of the Harry Potter young student/teacher stuff for personal moral reasons (ie, it's okay for people to joke about wanting to jump Daniel Radcliff's bones, but it's not okay to write a self-gratification fic about Snape and Hermione ::shudders:: ). Most pairings I turn away because they're not canon or my romantic pairing of interest or are just out there (Liz M found Bill the pony/Shadowfax once, don't ask). I think of what I've been reading lately, and I can definitely say there's no way, not even if it were Shakespeare, would I read Blade/Whistler slash. There you go.

1. Hands down, it's gotta be the time when I was just learning how to bike ride and I got into two accidents within a week of having just tentatively learned how to ride. Both accidents were because I hadn't mastered the concept of braking. The first was a result of going down a hill--not a large one but a steepish one--where I braked too hard and went tumbling over the handle bars. The second one, probably the most embarrassing one ever, was when, still not sure of that brake, I ran into the back of a parked car (apparently, I wasn't able to swerve well either). What makes it especially embarrassing was the fact that there was a kid from school walking by at the time and I got up and said, "I like doing that." I shit you not, that's more or else verbatim. I smacked myself royally and made an ass out of myself.

2. A fireman, if memory serves. That's the one I remember from earliest on.

3. Probably Alice Borchardt's "The Silver Wolf." It's not a particularly wonderful book, but the setting was so different and unusual, I doubt anyone would have gotten it right. It's set after the fall of Rome, but slightly before the rise of Charlemagne. It can get a little racy (this is Anne Rice's sister, after all), but the werewolf story was really fun.

4. The kitties love me! Sure, I made Lilah dance while I sang "Mamma Mia" in her face, and Sam love-bites me more than he purrs, but they're really friendly now. In-your-face friendly. Lilah has the adorable-slash-weird habit of walking up your body and kneading your stomach with her front paws. She doesn't settle down, she just picks one foot up, sets it down, and repeats with the other on and on. It's not ticklish per se, it's just sooooo weird feeling I giggle horribly.

5. Yep! If I work it out right, I might take off TWO whole days, have myself a long weekend.

1. On me, I generally prefer it longer. On guys, shorter, and almost never have I liked hair that's past the chin length on a guy.

2. Hrm, toughy. Is pizza its own cuisine? I'd eat just about anything on a pizza, but I can't say I have a loyalty to a specific ethnic/cultural food.

3. Love most about NYC: everything's here. Hate most about NYC: everything's expensive. That's pretty standard, which is lame, but absolutely true.

4. Go somewhere warm and go diving all day long. Seriously, the best time I had in Australia was probably my three-day dive trip at the Great Barrier Reef. I almost wish they still used those suits that let you breathe surface air. I'd never come up, not for 72 hours.

5. ::giggles:: All right, this is silly, but in no particular order, the men I found hottest in the past year or so (can't be sure of exact dates, and some might be stretches): Jake Weber, Tobey Maguire, Jason Lee, Jack from Jack&Bobby, and, duh, Ryan Reynolds.

wheee, that last one was fun!
