Is it so much to ask that fanbrats be killed off? I mean, I know they help support franchises and stuff, but isn't it legal to destroy them when they're being, I dunno, so blatant about how much they suck?

I decided to browse over old fandoms--Blade, Batman Begins, to name a couple--and the first stories that pop up, are all Mary Sues. This is nothing new, especially since I'd only managed to look at ff net before getting so angry I was on the verge of spewing bile. What bothers me is the false modesty and the caveats--"starts of stupid, gets better," "it's my first fanfiction"--and the like. If you know it sucks, will you do us all a favor and keep it off the intardnet?

Y'know, if you'd asked me in the first few months of the Constantine fandom... But I'm afraid the answer is yes. Who would we make fun of otherwise? :P

(Hope you had a good holiday, dear!)

Ah, the Constantine fandom. A fandom that showed so much promise in the beginning then fireballed in a gory massacre shortly thereafter. I can't remember the last time I saw a Constantine story that wasn't a Chas-y sue. I can't even remember the last time I saw a Constantine story that involved demons or, I don't know, exorcism.

Massacre, LOL. What a great word for it. Honestly, the entire reason I started [livejournal.com profile] constancanon was specifically to get away from the Chas-heavy b.s. of the other comms. And I haven't read a fic in months, unless it was written by someone I know, and they generally don't write about Chas. At all. Which is why they're my friends. Though I seem to remember you writing an exorcism-centric fic that involved Chas a while back, and I did enjoy that quite a lot. Probably because it didn't involve John making Chas pancakes in a post-coital morning afterglow. (Seriously, would you eat pancakes made by Constantine? Bleh.)

Gosh, I wrote a bunch, but yes, no pancakes. Did you catch the meltdown when one of the only authors still writing (and writing stories about Chas being a golf pro, I might add) posted to one of the comms demanding feedback? She was really pissy too. Pulled out the whole I-suffer-from-depression-you-must-give-me-feedback-to-raise-my-self-esteem card. It was horrible. Then the mod deleted the post, and that was the final nail in the fandom. Nothing's been posted since.

I do (did?) enjoy constancanon though. I still might write some more in that fandom someday, regardless of the other fen.

Was that on [livejournal.com profile] hallblazerslash? I've noticed that comm went silent a while back. Only the erroneously spelled [livejournal.com profile] constatineslash seems to get posts anymore. Sheesh. How pathetic. Chas being a golf pro -- grr, Shia fangirls are the worst, I swear to...ugh.

Yeah the 'Canon has been silent lately. Was thinking the other day I should post something, just not sure what.

And it occurs to me that I've enjoyed your posts/commentary in the past, and why haven't I friended you? Do you mind?

(And sorry for the post hijacking, M. I am a bad person.)

Sure! I love new friends! I still have some Constantine bunnies kicking around, but they've taken an indefinite backseat to the stargate bunnies (just ask [livejournal.com profile] trinityvixen about that. I had such hopes for Constantine. *sigh*

I did, thanks. You as well, I take it :)

But really, this is why I never stick with fandoms. They get perverted in a hurry...

Not all - due South has managed to avoid annoying teenage fangirls so far, and it's been around for years.

due South doesn't really lend itself to psycho fangirls. Too...somethin'. Though now I'm dead curious what a psycho illiterate fangirl would do with that fandom.

Okay, okay -- I take it back...! (Knocks on wood, crosses fingers and toes, etc.) I didn't just jinx it, I swear.
