Elektra wasn't unwatchably bad. It had one good action sequence, a couple of neat special effects/characters, and that was about it. It was joyless-ly bad. I mean, not a single-joke-to-be-found, unhappy-all-the-time anger, angst, and moroseness. Much as I am dubious of that movie's representation of just about anyone, I actually miss the Elektra from Daredevil who actually smiled--shocker! I stand by what I said this past week--Fantastic Four was better, if only because it made me genuinely amused and wasn't mad in love with itself and its own melodrama.

Oh, and, if not for the eleventh hour romance, the last bit of Horatio Hornblower could have been my favorite. It had all the ingredients--the army/navy rivalry and respect; the French being, well, French; more cute Horatio and Kennedy bonding and such. But the French tart can go b**se herself.

Now if you want to see a REALLY crazy movie, crazier than I've seen mentioned in here...I suggest Oldboy. See it before the inevitably crappy American remake arrives.

More normal 2006 reccomendation is Brick, but I don't know when it's actually going to hit theaters...opens March 24th in NYC only and there aren't any other dates. Bah.

Mmm. Not that this has anything at all to do with what you posted about except the tenuous connection of movies...

Ahahaha yes, that laghable part where they tried so hard to prove that Mr. Hornblower is a heterosexual. LIES.

::giggles:: He is in the Navy, after all. By choice, no less. And there's all this concern for his men...

I completely love that phrasing because I heard it took Ioan Gruffudd weeks to grow the little bit of scruffly stuff on his cheeks in King Arthur...

Guess he can use all the help he can get.

And, gah, could your icon be any cuter?

And now you're going to watch the next five or six Hornblower movies, right?
Because Starbuck is totally in them. ;) (Kicking butt and taking names)

Are you joking? If you're not joking, I'm Netflix'ing them now. If you are joking, I'm Netflix'ing them later.

I am, in fact, joking. *grin* But you definitely should still Netflix them. ;) Though I would own every single one if Starbuck was flying her Viper over the fleet. (Course then we're back to our rewrite of history, but is that a bad thing?) noooooooooo
