Dragged [livejournal.com profile] feiran out for Saw III last night, our newly minted Halloween tradition. So not worth it, I'm afraid. The first one was as clever as it needed to be, with the "shocking ending," and the second did well with it, too, in addition to having the most horrid thing ever with the needle pit. The third one? I have no idea where they thought they were going with this one. The rules of the main game didn't seem to serve the right purpose, given Jigsaw's usual MO. Oh well.

And last night's Heroes was interesting but didn't really get us anywhere except the first on-screen demonstraion of what ikiN is capable of. Notably missing? Nathan Petrelli and Matt Parkman. Blink and you'll miss Peter and Isaac, but ooh, yay, a helping of Mohinder. Yes, because I was sooooo deprived last week when he wasn't in it at all (That's sarcasm. You might be able to tell by the fact I'm going to add a big fat "NOT" at the end here). I don't know what Claire's story accomplished that needed it to be dragged out like it did, nor why the writers of the show thought we were somehow unlikely to catch on to the mystery of why D.L.'s partners went missing. Hmm, his wife has a homicidal alter-ego. Yes, it must be someone setting them up! ::rolls eyes:: That immediately obvious from when Niki found the bodies before (do have to love ikiN's style--she gets her killing on, but makes Niki bury the corpses all night).

Sorry, I tried to keep spoiler-lite and stick to just like the stuff they were already mentioning. Still, should have used a cut-tag.

I taped Heroes last night. Old-fashioned VCR technology. Crazy. And Saw III cannot possibly have been worse than The Butterfly Effect 2, but I'm not willing to watch the latter just to prove it.

Ah, you left the tape running then. I just figured you couldn't set the timer.

Nah, we did what you said there. Really, I'm beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be worth it for the extra $5 a month to get the DVR at this point, seeing as we end up taping things left, right, and center.

I was planning to loan you guys my extra VCR, which has a remote so you can set the timer, if you want. I don't do VHS to VHS (or DVD/LD to VHS) dubs so much anymore, so someone might as well get some use from it.

That would be cool, too. It also presupposes that we'd know how to work it, even with detailed instructions. I'll trust you or Carrie to work that out. I might still have to just leave things taping. Then again, can't not know how to program a VCR forever, I suppose.

I suspect you could, given how hard they are to find these days, but it's a fairly simple thing to figure out.
