One of my resolutions for this year was to complete five artistic projects, and one thought I had was to learn a new craft. As one of those five projects, I think I'm setting the goal-within-a-goal of finding and making successfully seven new food dishes (the idea being that I will have a week's worth of food options by the end of the year). This shouldn't be too hard. I've added one tonight--it's the stir fry my former roommate used to make. It's simple and I think I pulled it off about right, which is nothing short of amazing given that there's a marinade involved--a marinade, I tells you.

So, that's one! Six more dishes, four more projects. Off to get working on another project now--my sister's very belated wedding gift--while I watch Spooks (second season first disc finally arrived!).

Things I don't like:
-seafood
-squash
-peas

Most other things I can think of that give me even a slight "mmm" of iffiness, I would at least try. When it comes to baking, it's the same as candy: no caramel, no coconut, no chocolate, cheers.

Any other recipes would be keen.

No caramel, no coconut, no chocolate?! Why live?

If I recall, you were're able to make it when we had "cooking day" a few months ago. We can do another round of cooking lessons and run you through some easy, tasty stuff, if you'd like.

I'd love to. I was really sorry to have missed the first one. If you do another, I'll try to clear everything out of the schedule so I can be there with bells on.

And there's plenty of reason to live without chocolate or caramel. I just get it from different sources of junk (hence my devouring skittles and sour cream and onion chips at your wife's party)

Oddly enough, my favorite girl scout cookies as a kid were Samoas, which contain all of those things I don't like. Proof positive that unless you knew the things were in there that you didn't like, you could learn to love a meal of stuff you hate.

In my case however that was never the case. Case in point, found out one kind of Chips Ahoy cookie had coconut the hard way when "low dose" effects hit me that night. The next morning I read the bag and confirmed that there was in fact a coconut product in it. Aren't exotic alergies fun =-รพ

If you want to learn a new craft, try case modding!!

Alas, I have a laptop! But if I could make my laptop somehow into that Batman symbol casing, I totally would. That's awesome.

Back in high school I ripped some laptop parts out of the case and "installed" them in a 3-ring binder...called it a "notebook computer". I still have it, though the screen finally broke when it was crammed into a box with other stuff on my way to CU.

It's not that you can't mod a laptop, it just requires a bit more effort if you want to go beyond paint or skins. (No, really, flip through that link; it's insane.)

Holy crap! That was...way too much effort to put into a laptop cover--the hell are you gonna do with that? I mean, sheesh, you can't travel with that! Things could fall off, and the things are connected to lights, which are wired, which could mean bad things!

Looks awesome though.

I can teach you to roast a chicken. It's easy, it's cheap, and you can eat off it for days.

That works for me. I'll buy a chicken sometime!

Teach her to turn the carcass into soup, too.

It sounds so much more vicious and bloodthirsty when you say "carcass"! WOo!

Feel free to bug me for recipe ideas. I also have a few books that you may find helpful (One Pot recipes, Four ingredient recipes, etc). I also have a few quick and dirty recipes I'm willing to share as well (basically from stove top to table in 20 minutes with minimal prep work).

Quick recipes are my preference. I won't shy from ones that require overnight or night-before-prep, but I would prefer ones I know I can make in an evening if I had to.

Next time I see you, can I steal books?
