Last night's dream featured a pair of jeans with legs tangled around and around on some telephone wires in front of the house across from my parents' house upstate. [livejournal.com profile] feiran came into my room to bug me to lend her a specific pair of my jeans (they have ribbons down the legs) so she could chuck them at the pants and somehow dislodge them because she wanted her pants back.

Reluctantly, I loaned her the pair, threatening her mightily if she got my second favorite pair of jeans stuck up there, too. Because I'd already lost my first favorite pair to a microwaving accident. She said not to sweat it--when she got the other pair down, I'd have two pairs again.

It's in red. That means "considered" part of NYC. It's NOT. dude you knew in CU thought Yonkers was part of NYC. It's not. If you pay the extra taxes a "New York City Resident" pays, then you're IN New York City. Never mind property taxes. Most NYers can't afford to do anything BUT rent.

Why do I even bother? It's not like being a New Yorker means anything anymore. Damn Disney/Giuliani/Yuppies...

Shit, I'm a Yuppie! *hangs head*

*goes off muttering*

Actually it says areas in red "form the core of the NYC metropolitan area." The point is, "upstate" as "all of NYS outside of NYC" is not a useful definition, and it generally carries a connotation of hickdom (which real upstaters would deny, but which we downstaters know is there) which isn't warranted. We do tend to vote Democrat, at least.
