I had to whisper the words to myself to even know how I do pronounce things. I think this is about accurate, though I'm often confused for being southern. Comes from having cousins all over Georgia, I suppose. It doesn't help that I have to physically restrain myself from falling into other people's accents and speech patterns. I dunno what happened or what I did spending time with my older sister, but she and I are so alike in our speech patterns and mannerisms, it scares me.

Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.

There are only two ways of telling the complete truth--anonymously and posthumously.
Thomas Sowell
All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring.
Chuck Palahniuk
I cannot call to mind a single instance where I have ever been irreverent, except toward the things which were sacred to other people.
Mark Twain
An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a very narrow field.

I dreamt that I was on a boat last night, sitting below decks but in an open area, rather like a sumptuous shuttle or some such. The boat went too fast and water flowed over the side and flooded the area. The first thing I worried about were all the freshwater fish--mostly varietals of goldfish--that had been knocked over in the back of the boat. Everyone was like "Nah, they're fine, they're fish," but I was screaming at them that these were freshwater fish and the ocean water that had come over the side wasn't doing them any favors.
Dream-me and dream-Devin ran to pick up and scoop up goldfish as tiny as pin heads to the size of our hands and put them in any fresh-water container we could find--baggies of water, vases, everything. We'd get upset at all the ones quickly drying out on the floor and the ones that would go into the water but die anyway. It was maddening. And completely stupid. Because we spent the whole time alternating from going "Ewwww!" as we picked up fish with our bare hands to crying about how we were probably hurting them with the salts and residues on our hands and taking it like personal failure if any died.
Sheesh. Subconscious, what is up?
What American accent do you have?

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).
If you are not from the North, you are probably one of the following:
(a) A Southerner who hates Southern accents and tries really hard to "talk right"; or
(b) A New Yorker or New Jerseyan who doesn't have the full accent
Take this quiz now - it's easy!
