Before I go into the MAY MOVIE details, I'd like to take a WTF moment, if I may.
At home this weekend, I happened to notice that my mother's Star Trek calendar had a picture of Captain Janeway from Voyager on it. I totally had a lesbian crush on Seven of Nine, so I watched Voyager some despite it being pretty universally terrible. I looked at the caption under the picture. Apparently, in Star Trek Nemesis, Janeway's made Admiral...
...AND PICARD HAS NOT. WTF, TREKKIES?
Ahem. And without further ado:
THE MAY MOVIE!
Today's update: By virtue of the democratic polling process, I've determined that 10 pm seems to work best for everyone. So, to review:
THE MAY MOVIE: Mission: Impossible III
When: May 5, 2006
Time: 10 pm
Location: Loews 34th Street 14
312 W. 34th St.
New York, NY 10001
It's bring your own, folks, so buy the tix ahead of time. 'Cause no matter how tired the world is of Tom Cruise, he's still going to sell out this one.

Date: 2006-05-02 02:10 pm (UTC)Since this is basically the navy, I'll have to grant you that Janeway would nail the promotion. She's like the Mr. Clark of the Trek world when you sum it up the way you did here.

Date: 2006-05-02 05:08 pm (UTC)Picard got assimilated by the Borg *because* he was so valuable to and knowledgeable about Starfleet. The Borg are pretty smart and make their choices completely rationally. I'd say that's a pretty good recommendation.

Date: 2006-05-02 12:03 pm (UTC)A: You would be too if you were responsible for crippling the Borg while at the same time bringing in technology several decades more advanced (not to mention totally different anything conceived before) with you. To be honest, I would think every member of the Voyager crew got promoted and/or pardoned. Then you have to take into account just what kind of symbol they are to Star Fleet (yup politics). Not to mention that unlike Picard that they expected great things from, no one thought Janeway was anything special prior to her three hour tour. So taking all that into account, yeah it makes sense.

Date: 2006-05-02 02:08 pm (UTC)That's a funny combination of things, isn't it? Either they were heroes rewarded for their effort or criminals redeemed? And Janeway still made Admiral?

Date: 2006-05-02 02:17 pm (UTC)Admiral Dude: Let me get this straight: you've been here for the past three years and yet you managed to send another ship off to be lost in the middle of nowhere at all?
Admiral Janeway: It happens.

Also, doesn't Picard abandon the military wing of Starfleet for bigtime ambassadorship?

...which would probably explain why she's an Admiral and he's not, neh? I mean, we all know Starbuck's never gonna make Major with her dysfunctional inability to follow orders...
